2106 WellsFest, Jackson, MS

The 33rd WellsFest held at Jamie Fowler Boyll Park, 1398 Lakeland Drive, Jackson, MS, was held Saturday, September 25, 2016, from 7 a.m. to 5 p. m. The proceeds from the fest went to The Center for Violence Prevention. That organization makes donations to non profit charitable organizations. Therefore, I decided to participate because of the cause. I had not heard about the fest, but when Joedda Gore, author, told me about it I decided to attend. A thousand or more people enjoyed the open air fest and walked through the park visiting and chatting with vendors, listening to a live band playing contemporary music, and enjoying delicious food. There was also a Pet Parade with dog owners walking through the park sharing their pride and joy. Besides the activity I participated in, there were others: Golf Tournament, Art Night and the 5K Run & Walk. I was informed that those activities had great attendance too. The highlights for me not only included meeting and talking with many participants as they were perusing my seven books, but I received feedback from four readers who had purchased and read one or more of my books. These readers included one male and three females. I highly value all constructive comments from my readers whether positive or negative. In addition to that, I was invited as a prospective speaker in three cities: Jackson, home of singer, Dorothy Moore; Kosciusko, home of television queen, Oprah Winfrey and Oxford, home of William Faulkner, renowned author. It is great when one presentation gives me an opportunity to land other presentations. Although this was my first time participating in the Wellsfest, I do not intend it to be my last!
