Walker had been president of a writers' group she founded in Gary, Indiana, before relocating to Mississippi.

The group in Clinton has two community projects, actually the group has published two books: "It's All About Food with a Mississippi Twist and Virtues from the Heart" The group allowed community writers to submit entries related to the titles. The non-profit writing group is giving all proceeds from the sales of the books to the local college, Mississippi College English Department for scholarships. At this point, two $500.00 scholarships have been donated.
